Most of the people arrive in Koh Tao to start diving or get any certification in PADI or SSI. Actually, the island is well known around the world for the quality of the courses you can get, with top-notch instructors and well-prepared schools. However, there are also many people who have already their certification and want to enjoy some fun dives on this beautiful island. For this reason, we want to give you some information about prices and some advice about how to book them or which dive sites to pick.
How to Book a Fun Dive in Koh Tao
If you are looking to do some fun dives in Koh Tao, first you should know which dives sites you want to visit. Most of the dive shops show in a blackboard outside their shop the diving sites for the next day, so a simple walk around the island would allow you to choose your preferred one. If you have already chosen one, you can always go in, and ask if the shop next to your accommodation offers this spot.
However, the dive spots can vary depending on the weather. If the sea is choppy, most of the boats cannot go as far as Chumphon or Sail Rock, so you will be forced to dive in the Eastern part of the island or maybe around Koh Nang Yuan.
You won’t need to worry about booking the fun dive in Koh Tao in advance. Usually, one day before should be enough to prepare all the paperwork, the gear, and book you a place on the boat to dive the next day.
Which Dive Site Should I Choose for my Fun Dives in Koh Tao?
This is always a tricky question and depends on the personal taste of each diver. However, in our opinion, the best idea would be to book the 4S. This would be an amazing trip to cover the best spots around Koh Tao. The Divers Boat, located in Mae Haad, offers this trip once a week, and you’ll be able to dive in SouthWest Pinnacle, Sail Rock, Samran Pinnacle and finally Shark island for a night dive.
In this way, in only one day, you will cover the top dive spots on the island, with breakfast and lunch included. The boat will take you from one to another during the day, and the schedule is prepared to avoid peak hours in Sail Rock, something a bit annoying sometimes while diving in the morning.
Other excellent spots to enjoy your fun dives in Koh Tao are Chumphon and Sattakut wreck, a non-miss dive during your stay in the Gulf of Thailand. If you have some extra time, White Rock or Red Rock, around Koh Nang Yuan, are also beautiful spots where you could see turtles swimming around you.
Fun Dives Prices in Koh Tao
Prices for fun dives in Koh Tao are similar in all the dive shops. As happens with the courses, all the shops agree to offer similar prices. You can get a discount if you book also accommodation with the shop or you use one of our deals. Otherwise, the price for a fun dive in Koh Tao is 1000 baht (around 30€).
If you are planning to visit Sail Rock, you should take into consideration that prices go up. Usually, the journey trip to Sail Rock costs around 2.900 baht, but the dive shops include breakfast and lunch, as you would spend the whole morning going there, from 6 am to 3 pm, approx.
The other option you have, and we recommend, is booking the 4S. By booking here you can have a good discount and beat the prices on the street, apart from enjoying 4 dives in only one day.
