MAE HAAD

This is the first point you are going to set foot on the island. The main pier is in Mae Haad, and soon enough you’ll see the main busy roads, coming in and out of the port, with the iconic 7/11. This point is ideal for people who want to be close to the big atmosphere, but quite. Mae Haad has everything, including the hospital or many shops, but the nightlife is quite limited. Also, the beaches around the port are not the best on the island. You’ll need to grab the bike and explore it, but Mae Haad is strategically situated in the middle of it, so everything will be handy for you.

SAIREE 

Probably this is the most famous point of the island. In there you’ll find a really long and nice beach, ideal for sunbathing because it’s very shallow to snorkel. Besides, there are many shops and restaurants by the beach, where you can enjoy some nice fish on the BBQ at reasonable prices. But especially you’ll find many activities to enjoy the nightlife, with many pubs and clubs full of people and fire shows. This is the place for party lovers.

CHALOK

This is the most chilled place, ideal for families and people who want to stay away from the noise and the long nights at Sairée. You will find many dive shops, nice restaurants and, of course, a nice, shallow and long beach to enjoy sunbathing and chilling. However, if you are looking for parties or long nights, this is not your place. Remember that Koh Tao is quite small, so you’ll always have the chance to grab the bike and go to Sairée in a 10 minutes ride, but Chalok would be the preferred option for quiterer people. Around this beach, you’ll find some top spots of the island like Shark Bay or Paradise Beach.

KOH TAO TURTLE ISLAND AND OTHER GREAT SPOTS

Koh Tao was once known as the Turtle Island because of the large amount of these animals that could be found in these waters. Actually, Tao means “turtle” in Thai language and Koh is “island”, so you can imagine why they named it like this. Unfortunately, these waters are no longer a paradise for turtles.
