WHY YOU SHOULD GO TO MAE HAAD
As one of the central areas on the island, Mae Haad has accessible transport means for you. The location is within walking distance from both Sairee and Chalok, although a bike would make the trip more practical. You can rent bikes anywhere for an average of 200 baht per day. Mae Haad has good and affordable accommodation, some top-notch restaurants, nice retail shops and, of course, many dive shops to explore the waters around the paradise island.

Known as a holiday destination, Koh Tao also attracts digital nomads. You can find them at Tao Hub, the only co-working space available with the best wifi on the island. Featuring a nice, open space for the digital nomad community, you’ll find people from all around the world getting their work done before taking part in morning dives or heading for Sairee to get a cold Chang. Do not miss this spot if you need to work during your stay on the island. You won’t regret it.
At Mae Haad, you’ll also find some supermarkets to buy your daily needs and some nice pubs. Although Mae Haad is not a party place like Sairee you can still find some unique bars such as the famous Rasta Bar, style like a treehouse with reggae music and hosting BBQs every Friday.
As you can imagine, the beaches are not the best around the pier, Although near the pier, the beaches are still enjoyable for a swim and sunset gazing. However, if you want to explore more of the island, other beaches can be found within walking distance heading south. There, you will find Sai Nuan Beach, one of the best spots on the island and a must for every traveler.
WHY BOOKING ACCOMMODATION AT MAE HAAD?
The first thing is the location. Mae Haad is strategically situated in the middle of the island where you can easily reach the best beaches such as Aow Leuk and Tanote Bay. Besides, the area is cheaper than Sairee and it’s much quieter. You may enjoy spending nights out but who could deny a good night’s sleep especially if you are taking part in a diving course. Mae Haad is perfect for that party-diving balance.
You can also find many shops filled with authentic Thai clothes and accessories and quiet bars to drink fresh smoothies or a cold beer. Do not miss the pancakes and the BBQs around the pier, as everyday street vendors give away one of the best meals you will ever try.
