It is a medium sized SSI Scuba Diving School with a relax, fun but professional atmosphere. We teach all our courses with SSI and our main languages are English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Carabao Diving Resort is one of the first dive centers that opened on Koh Tao, over 20 years ago. We recently added a 5m deep swimming pool to compliment our rooms, restaurant, beach bar and travel agent.

We aim to provide a relaxed and fun learning environment so that you enjoy learning without feeling pressured. We keep class sizes low, allowing you the maximum instructor time and making sure everyone you have the personal attention you need to complete the course, so that you can master the art of scuba diving at your own pace and within a safe environment. And if you need more time to get to grips with any aspect of a course then we can offer additional theory and dive time. Here at Carabao Dive Resort we have 3 full equipped diving boats regularly working every day with morning trip, afternoon trip and Night Trip for the more adventurous! Courses are run year-round. Even if the weather conditions outside in our beautiful bay are not good for diving, we still run confined water training sessions at our infinity pool right in front of the beach.

7 REASONS TO GO SCUBA DIVING IN KOH TAO

Knowing where to begin your scuba diving adventure can be difficult. Figuring our when or where to continue your scuba education can be challenging, too. But whether you are starting your adventures in scuba diving or forwarding the fun, we have countless reasons why Koh Tao is the best place for you. For the sake of time, here are seven:

1. Opportunity to snorkeling and scuba dive with whale sharks

Thailand is one of the few places in the world where you can see (and swim) with a whale shark, and Koh Tao is the best place in Thailand to do just that. They are regularly spotted around Koh Tao near the following dive site Chumphon Pinnacle, Sail Rock, South West Pinnacle, White Rock and Shark Island.

Whale sharks often swim close to the surface, so you can even see them while snorkeling!

These huge fish--the largest confirmed measured 12.65 meters in length!--might seem a bit scary at first, but they are harmless to humans. They eat plankton and small fish, swimming with their mouths open to filter food from the water. Each whale shark has a unique pattern of white spots which makes it easy for scientist to monitor them. Unfortunately, are still hunted for live oil, cartilage and fin to use in shark fin soup.

2. Ecological Diversity

Koh Tao is ringed by coral reefs--deep and shallow--rock pinnacles and small islands that are home to plenty of marine life. The ecological diversity of Koh Tao is just amazing, and we hope to show it to you. Carabao Diving Center was one of the first to open on the island, meaning we have been exploring and protecting that area longer than most.

3. Diving Sites Open All Year

There is something interesting happening on or around Koh Tao throughout the entire year. All the dive sites are always open to divers, though there are months that provide better conditions than other months. (But it’s possibly to see whale sharks all year around!)

The best conditions are found between March to September. During this time, visibility can be up to 30 meters. The busiest months are July and August. Weather is typically warm and sunny, giving great visibility to all the dive sites. Koh Tao even has a little reputation for having a lot of sunny days.

Rainy season is October to February, creating sea swells and reducing visibility.

Water temperature around Koh Tao is usually around 28-29°C.

4. Koh Tao is the Best Place to Learn to Scuba Dive

The sheer number of dive schools on Koh Tao speaks to how great of a location this Thai island is for advancing… or starting! … your scuba diving. Whether you want to try scuba diving, no certification required, advance your education or get the training required to work in diving, Carabao Diving Resort can make that happen for you. We were one of the first dive centers on Koh Tao, and we know the dive sites well.

The diversity of dive sites easily accommodate the skill-level of every diver. So first dive experience? Wanting to specialize in wreck diving? You can do both here!

Carabao Diving Resort is an SSI Dive Center, one of the most recognized Scuba certification agencies in the industry. Our team is formed by instructors and divemasters of different nationalities. We teach in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.

5. Did We Mention It’s One of the Cheapest Places to Get Certified?

Yeah, so Koh Tao is one of the cheapest place in the world to get your scuba certification. With less overhead, sample life under the waves or double-up on your certifications! Carabao Diving Center offers even more discount to divers that get their Open Water Certification and their Advanced Adventurer Certification with us. And we offer special packages the include accommodation, speciality course, etc. For even more savings, contact us!

6. It's easy to relax and enjoy island life

Out of water, Koh Tao is a beautiful island. With several beaches, lots of nightlife and affordable dining--Koh Tao is a divers paradise to hangout and talk about scuba diving some more! You can also rock climb, play mini-golf, take a cooking class or visit one of the local, affordable spas for a famous Thai massage.

When you dive with Carabao Diving Center, equipment and insurance is included. All our equipment is top of line and regularly maintained by experts and our energetic staff of divemaster trainees. In addition, we have our own equipment service center that provides appropriate services to all gears by our certified technicians. So you can rest easy and enjoy the full scope of what Koh Tao has to offer.

7. Great beaches

On all edges of Koh Tao are relaxing, sandy beaches welcoming independent snorkeling and afternoon naps in the sun. We suggest you grab a coconut and banana shake and head to one of the countless beaches for a few hours. You will never want to leave.

Carabao Diving Resort is located on one such beach in Chalok Bay on the southend of the island. It’s great if you’re staying and diving with us; it’s just a few moments walk to the long boat that will take you to one of our three converted fishing boat that wait in the bay.

Our Location

Chalok Baan Kao Bay looks out to Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and the Ang Thong Marine National Park. Hin Taa Toh (Buddha Rock), a well known landmark on Koh Tao can be seen on the cape on the east side. The beach here slopes down gently into shallow water so it’s ideal for families with children.
